Student IoT Automation & Operations Engineer
About Climify
Climify is a Danish deep-tech company working with digital retrofit of existing buildings. We develop software-driven solutions that connect sensors, building systems, and user feedback to improve indoor climate, energy efficiency, and day-to-day building operation.
By adding a digital layer on top of existing buildings, we enable continuous monitoring, datadriven control, and transparent performance insights. This supports better operational decisions today and creates a solid basis for future renovation and optimization efforts.
As a student at Climify, you will work with real buildings and real systems, contributing to solutions that are already deployed and used by building owners, operators, and occupants.
The role
We are looking for a well-rounded student engineer with an interest in IoT, automation, and data-driven systems. This role is ideal for a student who wants hands-on experience across the full automation pipeline — from hardware and networking, through data ingestion and processing, to control logic, APIs, and visualization.
You will work closely with senior engineers and researchers in a small, ambitious team and gain exposure to production systems used by municipalities, universities, and companies.
What you’ll work on
- Testing, onboarding, and installing IoT hardware (sensors and actuators)
- Setting up and maintaining data pipelines for sensor and actuator data
- Working with Node-RED, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes / AKS)
- Designing and implementing control logic for building-related actuators
- Contributing to the design and implementation of internal and external APIs
- Supporting monitoring, debugging, and operational stability of deployed systems
Expected knowledge
- Programming experience (e.g. Python)
- Basic understanding of databases and data structures
- Fundamental networking knowledge (IP, DNS, basic protocols)
- Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code
Nice to have (not required)
- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or Node-RED
- Interest in time-series data, data analytics, or large-scale data processing
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud deployments
- Frontend experience (especially Vue.js)
- Experience or interest in backend technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Liquibase, JPA/Hibernate
Who you are
- A student at DTU or a similar technical university
- Curious and motivated to learn how real-world automation systems work end to end
- Interested in IoT, software, and data-driven control
- Comfortable collaborating in a small team and taking ownership of tasks
- Not afraid to work across disciplines (hardware, software, cloud)
What we offer
- Flexible working hours adapted to your studies
- Hands-on experience with modern IoT, backend, and cloud technologies
- Exposure to real customers, buildings, and deployed systems
- A steep learning curve and close collaboration with experienced engineers
- A friendly, informal, and supportive startup culture
- The opportunity to make a real impact in a growing company
